Azerbaijani Documentary Project

The Azerbaijani Documentary Project uses genuine artifacts to relate Azerbaijan's complex heritage. The Project includes collecting and preserving videos, photographs, mementos, and oral histories of individuals with a connection to Azerbaijan. The Foundation makes these firsthand records available to researchers in the Karabakh Foundation Archive. These collections form the basis for museum and archival presentation. The ADP to date has accomplished the following:

  • Oral-history interviews of dozens of individuals with connections to Azerbaijan.
  • Digitized records of some archival material for use by filmmakers, authors, and others.
  • Human-interest content based on personal stories for Foundation and other publications.
  • Professionally maintained museum- and archive-class collections accessible to cultural institutions.
  • Firsthand accounts from Azerbaijan.
  • Virtual exhibits built around objects of Azerbaijani art, everyday life, and history.
  • Donations of artifacts, including publications, to major institutions such as the U.S. Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institution.
  • Partnerships with filmmakers and photographers to document and display evidence of Azerbaijani life and history.
  • Publications that preserve cultural "artifacts" such as oral histories, recipes, and musical compositions.
  • Preservation of endangered and underrepresented Azerbaijani artifacts.
